the high priestess is a card of mystery, intuition, and feminine energy. it is the card that calls us to draw inward, practicing our trust of ourselves, as well as our trust in the universe. the high priestess encourages us to sit with the place in between what was and what is. she asks us to ground down, so that we may have the freedom to flow through our depths. during this time, we may be much like a seed that is gracefully working towards the surface to break through. much energy is being used, but the growth is not yet visible. the high priestess encourages us to accept this place where we are growing on our own with no witness and no need to produce, just the desire to get closer to the light, so our growth can be sustainable. as we sit in this place of stillness or very slow action, we are gathering knowledge, taking in our surroundings, observing our experiences and those happening around us. we are not being idle. we are opening to what the universe has to offer. as we take it all in, we expand. this expansion creates a connection between our inner and outer worlds. the high priestess allows us to become attuned to the level that our outer world is reflected by our inner world. with this insight, she grants the ability for us to tune into our intuition, to connect with our core, to sink into our depths. during this time, it is not as necessary to connect with our mindset as much as it is to listen to our inner voice. we know what we need to know. and we are where we need to be at this precise moment. we do not need to dwell in the past and play in the future. we can just be present. we can trust that we will know what to do next and when we are ready to strive towards it, we can trust that the universe will support us and create an opportunity for us to achieve what we are moving towards. thus, sitting in this place calls for us to exist alongside mystery and magic, which is what the high priestess conjures. take comfort that although mysterious, she provides no illusions, only clarity, if we are willing to wait out the fog.
sometimes it is hard to sit still. we want to see progress. we want to create progress. we want the answers. we want to fix everything that is not quite right. especially when we are on a path of growth. we know we are not the same. we know our lives are not what they were. we kind of know where we are headed and definitely know we are not there yet. we do not know quite what we will be when we get there. we do not know what our lives will exactly look like. we are in a place between what was and what will be. we are in the 'what is.' we are in the present, which requires that we be present. we must find a comfortable seat in this place. this place is full of lessons, lessons that we must allow the time to sink in. this place can be the calm before the storm. this place is a retreat. we can retreat inward. we can examine where we are at. we can acknowledge how we got here, without dwelling on the past. we can look forward and work towards the future, without trying to play fast forward. this time to go inward, this time to stay still, this time to just be, is often where the most growth happens, whether it seems noticeable or not. this is the magic, the magic of being present. to embrace this magic, we must practice trust.
as hard as it can be sit still, it may be even harder to rely on trust. we must first learn to trust ourselves before we can trust anything else. learning how to trust ourselves can be a process of healing and can begin by showing up fully in our lives. we must know that we have our own back. sometimes having our own back can be as easy as listening to our inner voice, trusting that our intuition holds some truth, believing that we know what we need. when we trust ourselves, we can trust that we are on the right path. we can trust the process. so as we sit in the place between what was and what is, we can trust that we are exactly where we need to be. as we lean inward and sit with stillness, we can let this trust integrate into our systems. as we fill our being with this trust, it bleeds out from our inner world into our outer world. this trust will extend beyond us into our relationships with others, into our relationship with the universe. our trust that we have our own backs expands into a trust that the universe also has our back.
so, if or when we feel stuck or confused or uncertain or not where we want to be, let us embrace the mystery. let us dance with the magic. let us just sit down and be where we are. we do not need to change it. there is something to learn here. growth is happening. retreat inward and listen. be still. integrate. do not fear going deep. trust yourself. trust the process. find freedom in this place of presence.
